Public Hearing: New Development Ordinance

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

On August 16, 2023 at 6:00 p.m., the Nehalem Planning Commission will continue a public hearing considering the adoption of a new Nehalem Development Ordinance.  The City of Nehalem has determined in the proposed text amendments, particularly consolidating the R-1, R-2, R-3, RT, and RM zones into a single Mixed Density Residential (RM) Zone, may affect the permissible uses of properties that are so designated.  In addition, definitions are updated; residential zones have additional housing opportunities; flood hazard regulations meet new Federal standards; estuary zones are reorganized in a separate article; development provisions comply with requirements for the proposed Nehalem Transportation System Plan; and the City planning staff may now review minor land use applications. See the link below for a copy of the proposed New Development Ordinance.  Printed copies are available at City Hall for a cost of $50.

The hearing will be held at City Hall, 35900 8th Street, Nehalem, OR 97131 and available remotely by Zoom. Any interested party may testify at the hearing or submit written comments at or prior to the public hearing.  For additional information, please contact the City of Nehalem at 503-368-5627.

This meeting location is accessible to persons with disabilities.  Accommodations for people with disabilities will be made upon advance request.  Providing at least 48 hours notice will help ensure availability.
